After reading this we hope you will consider sending a message of support to Phil - your encouragement will keep him going!

On the 19th February 2008, Major Phil Packer, a member of our Armed Forces, was injured in an incident following a rocket attack in Basra. Sadly, as a result of the accident Phil has lost the use of his legs and is now a paraplegic with what are classed as catastrophic injuries.  He is currently at Headley Court where he is receiving treatment and rehabilitation.

He continues to serve in the Army and with a positive attitude to life, a vision to assist others and to provide information on sport to the disabled community, Phil has personally pledged to raise £1 million for Help for Heroes - a task that he has bravely and determinedly taken on himself.  His website www.philpacker.com will follow this man's dream to achieve a remarkable and selfless act.

He says “I have been absolutely stunned by the grit and determination of the injured servicemen that I meet; I can assure you that what Help for Heroes are striving to achieve will make a huge difference and improvement”.

Phil's Million is not a charity in itself, it is a team of friends and colleagues and a growing network of likeminded people and companies that are linking together to help reach a target, support others and have some fun along the way raising £1 million for Help for Heroes, the charity assisting Phil's wounded colleagues at Headley Court.

He hopes to raise ongoing sponsorship, and to do so, has laid down the gauntlet for ANY challenges, events or sports to participate in that will assist in reaching his target.  Phil has already rowed the Channel and on Saturday 9th May 2009 he completed the Fora London Marathon after 13 days.  Between 1st & 14th June Phil will be in the USA completing his next challenge, which is to pull himself up El Capitan, 4000 pull ups, 1800ft, 3 days, 1 Mountain.  His list of challenges that he hopes to complete are; Skiing, Basketball, Parachuting,  Horse Riding, a swimming challenge, a climbing challenge, Sailing, Flying, Gliding, Athletics, Archery, Shooting, Urban Abseiling, F1 Driving, Gumball Rally, Scuba Diving, Rowing the Channel, Tennis, Weightlifting, Power Boat racing and being the first paraplegic in a reasonably priced car! Do you have a challenge for him to add to the list? Can you help him complete any of these challenges?

His personal journey is unique. He is an inspirational officer with an abundance of drive, motivation  and enthusiasm that generates and inspires those who hear his story and who meet him - why not meet him?. After meeting him, I decided to offer my experience to assist him; I believe he represents all the strength and dignified professionalism of our Armed Forces and I hope you will feel the same.

Any other way you would be interested in getting involved in with Phil's journey and helping him take it to the next level would be absolutely brilliant- we really appreciate you taking the time to read this message!
